Village Administrator Beth Rediger informed the Blakeslee Village council members that after running it past Mayor Linda Muehlfeld, she has signed an agreement with Toledo Edison to replace the street light bulbs with LED bulbs.
If done all at once it would cost the village two hundred dollars per bulb, but if they allow TE to replace each one as they burn out, it is free to the village.
Council agreed that it was a good idea to take the agreement.
Council members present for the meeting held at 4 pm on Sunday, June 27, 2021, were Eric Jenkins, Cody Reynolds, Nick Reed and Rosemary Thiel.
Council voted to approve the May 16, 2021 minutes, payment of bills and the Finance Report for the month.
As there was not a quorum, they were not able to suspend the rules and pass Resolution 06-2021-2, so they had a First Reading instead. The Resolution was “Accepting the amounts and rates as determined by the Budget Commission and authorizing the necessary tax levies and certifying them to the county auditor.”
Rediger explained that as it is not due till October, they have plenty of time for three readings or they can choose to suspend and pass it at another meeting.
Mayor Muehlfeld reported that the weeding is done at the park and mulch will be brought in soon, which was donated by Dimensions in Edon. County Engineer Todd Roth called and let her know that they are determining who owns what at the hills.
A connection with MVPO is going so they can find out how much the village can get for the land. She also informed that Bob Mohre is willing to finish out his mother’s term on council, as Dorothy Mohre passed away.
Police Chief Randy Mohre said that he is planning to get the sign in town for a while that lights up and tells the driver what speed they are going. The clean up of some messy areas, in town, is happening.
During the past week the department handled an assault, four fraud calls, three complaints, one lockout, and one domestic call with no charges pressed.
It was mentioned that the chickens and the pony that were in town have been removed.
