The Magic Corner in Wauseon held its annual magic camp for kids on Thursday July 8th. The camp was open to kids from ages 9 and up.

Children learned all kinds of tricks ranging from card tricks, rope tricks, money tricks, predictions and more.

The camp started at 9:00am and lasted until 3:00pm. At 7:00pm the children were then able to come back to take part in a show where they were able to perform the trick’s they learned with the magician Kenneth Ladd.

The show took place on the stage located inside the magic corner. Kenneth himself has been doing magic for over 50 years. He has traveled all over Ohio, Michigan and Indiana doing shows and day camps.

He got his start doing magic when he was the Chaplin at the Correctional Institute for Boys in order to help illustrate his sermons.

He is able to do all the kinds of tricks and illusions that magicians such as David Copperfield and others performed.

Kenneth is a retired United Methodist pastor and has two doctorates in magic and clinical psychology. “I have a vested interest in kids learning magic. It is a challenge for me to teach it in a way that they can grasp it and understand it.”

“I enjoy them learning and hopefully will instill it in them to keep learning in order to keep the magic arts going,” Kenneth said.

While the show may be over for this year, The Magic Corner on Fulton Street in downtown Wauseon is open.

Kenneth would like everyone to come on in and learn a new trick and help make sure magic continues to have a future.
