Williams County Fair Board Discusses Upcoming Improvements

July 19, 2021Updated:January 5, 2022No Comments2 Mins Read

The Williams County Fair Board held their meeting on Thursday July 15th at 7:00pm. The meeting was called to order followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and roll call.

The Board then moved on to hear any requests from the floor with Jim Watkins from the Williams County Health Department present to speak.

Mr. Watkins made a request to allow COVID-19 vaccinations at the fairgrounds during the 2021 fair.

Following the request made by Mr. Watkins the board moved to approve the minutes from the June meeting as well as the treasurer’s report. With nothing for committee reports the board moved to old business.

The board is receiving $50,000 from the state and a discussion took place on where the money will be going.

The money will be used on remodeling the Thaman Dining area and restrooms, grandstand restrooms, a computer replacement for the Secretary’s office and ticket office, combining funds with the livestock sale account to replace the swine barn roof, adding a 14-foot overhead door on the south of the grandstands, and anything else they are able to discuss later.

The board also discussed the payment going to the Williams County Sheriff’s Department for security during the 2021 fair.

In new business, the Demo Derby car raffle proceeds will go to Team Taya. The board was reminded that petitions are due on 08/19/2021 and that a group photo will be taken after the meeting for the fair book.

Following the announcements, the meeting was adjourned.
