FAYETTE – It’s not that Fayette made a lot of mistakes on April 22, it’s just that the Pettisville Blackbirds cashed in on practically every one. The run rule was invoked after five innings, mercifully putting an end to what turned out to be a 19-1 BBC beatdown.

Alex Roth led the 4-4/3-0 Blackbirds by going 5 innings and allowing a run on 2 hits and 5 walks, striking out 7. At the plate, Roth clocked a single and a double.

Logan Nofziger had 3 base hits, and Cam Norris, Jacob Deffely and Eli King each reached with a pair of base hits.

Daniel McNamara got the start for the Eagles, but was bounced after giving up 6 runs, 4 earned on 6 hits and 2 walks, striking out 2 in 2 1/3 innings of work. Koby Biddix came on and was tagged with 6 unearned runs on 3 hits, 3 walks and a strikeout. Joel Smith finished, allowing 7 runs, 4 earned on 6 hits and 2 walks.

Jared Wagner and Jerad Seiler each singled for Fayette.
