NATIONAL CHAPTER … On Thursday May 1, Pettisville FFA was recognized as a Gold Medal Chapter in the Ohio FFA Association. This award is given to the top 10% chapters in the state. Receiving the award on stage were Courtney Weimken and Noelle Fox.

AVA GENTER – PROFICIENCY … Ava Genter was recognized as the 1st place Accounting Proficiency winner at the Ohio FFA Convention in Columbus, Ohio. This award is based on Ava’s excellent record keeping in her Supervised Agricultural Experiences.

Twenty Pettisville FFA members recently attended the Ohio FFA Convention and Expo on May 1-2, 2025 in Columbus, Ohio.
On the first day of the convention, students had the opportunity to explore the career show and expo. During Session One, the chapter was recognized for donating $500 or more in charitable giving from April 1st 2024 – March 30th 2025.
During Session Two, Pettisville FFA was recognized as a Gold Medal Chapter which is awarded to the top 10% chapters in the state. Junior Ava Genter won 1st place in the Accounting Proficiency Award area and was recognized on stage. This is based on Ava’s excellent record keeping skills in her Supervised Agricultural Experiences.
On Friday, the State FFA Band and Choir had performances. Junior Katie Moore had the opportunity to play the flute with the FFA Band.
Also on Friday, during Session Four, three Pettisville FFA Officers were awarded for their Gold rated Officer Books; Junior Natalia Alencastro was awarded for her Secretary’s Book, Junior Olivia Beck as the Chapter Reporter, and Junior Courtney Wiemken as the Chapter Treasurer.
To wrap up the Ohio State FFA Convention, during Session Five, the chapter had the opportunity to listen to the 2024-2025 State President retiring speech. After the retiring address, nine Pettisville FFA members were recognized and awarded their State Degree.
The degree recognizes FFA members based on their FFA involvement and Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAE) finances.
Receiving the State FFA Degree were seniors Noelle Fox, Caitie Girdham, Tobin King, and Olivia Miller; and Juniors Natalia Alencastro, Olivia Beck, Genevieve Galvin, Ava Genter, and Courtney Wiemken.
Each member enjoyed the time spent at the convention, from meeting other members, listening to inspirational speakers, learning about future career paths, and learning more about colleges that offer agricultural degrees.
