Pettisville FFA Members Make Use Of Founding Members Grant Program

ALUMNI REPORTER

Pettisville – The Pettisville FFA Alumni and Friends have a Founding Members Grant program. The grants are open to current members and recent grades to help them start or expand business or work related projects. The following is a quick report of what four FFA members created with the last round of grants.

From Kaleb Wyse, Class of 2027- With the grant I purchased supplies to raise chickens. I used the waterers to water my chickens, used the feeders to feed my chickens and used the heat lamp and bulbs to keep the chicks warm.

I will be able to use these supplies next year to raise more chickens for my Supervised Agricultural Experience project. Thank you.

From Ty Morrison, Class of 2029 – I used the grant money to purchase materials to build my chicken coop and run. This coop will allow me to have an area that is enclosed for my hens to get sunlight, roam freely without danger and to have a safe area to lay eggs. Thank you alumni members.

From Natalia Alencastro, Class of 2026 – I have used the grant money to purchase chickens and feed and straw. These items have benefited me in stepping out of my comfort zone with owning and operating an egg business. I appreciate the alumni for giving these grants.

From Lincoln Aeschliman, Class of 2029 – I used the money to purchase live traps, animal skinning supplies (stretching board and a fleshing board), and coyote traps.

This project has taught me a new skill that a business like a butcher shop job might need. When hunting pest, not all parts of the animals don’t need to go to waste. Thank you for investing in my Supervised Agricultural Experience project.

At the recent annual business meeting reports were given about the Pumpkin Fest, scholarships, grants, dues and the National FFA Convention.

The chapter approved the spending of over $5,800 in FFA support for the next year. Officers elected were: President – Hannah Meller, Vice President – Chad Aeschliman, Secretary – Luke Short, Treasurer – Cathy Nofziger, Asst. Treasurer – AJ Genter, and Reporter – Lexie Poulson. Past President is Vicki Nofziger.

The National FFA Organization is a national youth organization of over 700,000 student members as part of 8,612 local FFA chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.

FFA Alumni chapters are organized to support local, state and national FFA activities and students.
