(Februrary 10th, 2015) – PATRICK HENRY: Despite a late run by Patrick Henry in the fourth quarter, the Lady Blackbirds Junior Varsity squad were able to earn a tough road win against a North Western Ohio Athletic League opponent.

The Pettisville girls were able to fend off the furious Patrick Henry rally, winning the game 29-27.

The Blackbirds gradually built their lead throughout the first three quarters of play. In the first period, they jumped to an early 13-9 advantage. They were able to add another point to that lead before the half, taking the second stanza 5-4. Not relenting, the Pettisville girls continued to add to Patrick Henry’s deficit in the third quarter, thanks to a 9-5 effort.

Leading by 9 points heading into the final frame, Pettisville seemed to be in complete control of the contest. Yet, the Patriot girls came out in the fourth period determined to take the win from the Blackbirds. Pettisville was able to do just enough to secure the victory, even though they were outscored 9-2 down the stretch.

Leading the Blackbirds in scoring was Kyra Behnfeldt. The freshman put up 14 points in the win. Not too far behind her was teammate Rebekah Steele, who earned 10 points on the evening as well.
