HOLGATE: February 7, 2014 – The Pettisville Lady Blackbirds traveled to Tiger Town to tangle with Holgate on February 7. The hometown girls came out firing in the first half, taking a 33-25 into the intermission, but they left the door open for a Ladybird rally in the second half.

Pettisville was more than happy to oblige.

After a 12-2 run in the third period tied the game, the Ladybirds put a bow on it with a 9-5 fourth, completing the rally with a 46-42 win.

“It was a nice win for us,” said Pettisville mentor Jason Waldvogel, who added, “Our defense was the difference in the second half.”

Dana Fricke led all scorers with 16 for the 18-2 / 8-1 Lady Blackbirds. Lauren Hostetler knocked down 10 points, Mikala Avina and Jordyn Pursel each had 8 points, and Kate Kauffman and Audra Klopfenstein had a deuce apiece.
