(June 5th and 6th, 2015) – COLUMBUS: With members of their 4X800 meter team competing in both the team event as well as individual competitions, the Lady Blackbirds of Pettisville were well represented at the State track meet in Columbus.

In the 3200 meter relay, the squad of Elizabeth Sauder, Nichole Foor, Mikala Avina, and Alexa Leppelmeier joined forces one last time to earn respect against an elite field of opponents. They did just that, coming in eleventh place in the run with a time of 9:52.62. While that didn’t award them any points for their efforts, it did put them in the middle of a very talented pack.

Leppelmeier also ran in the one mile race for the Lady Blackbirds. She came just shy of earning points for the run, finishing in tenth place with a time of 5:16.3. That put her within twenty seconds of first place finisher Athena Welsh, of Saint Thomas Aquinas, who ran a 4:58.87. In the two mile run, it was Foor carrying the Pettisville banner. With a time of 12:00.9, the freshman runner came in ninth place, one spot away from scoring.

Montpelier was represented by a lone competitor at Columbus, senior thrower Baylee Hageman. After incredible performances at the District and Regional levels, she put forth a respectable finish to her high school career with a tenth place finish in the shot put. Her throw of 37’07.75” netted her the position.
