Phyllis Onweller (1932 – 2018)

Phyllis J. Onweller, age 86, of Wauseon, passed away Monday night, May 28, 2018 at Community Health Professionals Defiance Inpatient Hospice.  She was born in Morenci, MI on February 15, 1932 to the late Carl F. Olmstead and Nina (Bell) Olmstead.  Phyllis graduated from Wauseon High School in 1950.  For many years she worked at Page and Cox and Fulton Industries.  On October 4, 1953 she married the boy next door, James Elton Onweller and together built their family home between the two homesteads.

Phyllis is survived by her husband of 64 years, James Elton Onweller; children, Connie (James) Stewart of Wauseon, Lawrence (Leisa) Onweller of Delta and Carol (Jerry) Moser of Defiance; brother, Carl J. (Jane) Olmstead of Wauseon; sisters, Audrey Smith of Ridgeville, Pauline Johnston of Wauseon, Elizabeth Neuenschwander of Wauseon and Twila Helberg of Napoleon; brother-in-law, Loren Onweller of Wauseon; sister-in-law, Marjorie Olmstead of Wauseon. grandchildren, Brandon (Colleen) Stewart, Kyle (Angela) Stewart, Troy (Cassie) Stewart, Aaron (Brittany) Stewart, Jolie Opdahl, Scott (Amy) Onweller, Shannon (Justin) Leu, Jonathon (Whitney) Moser, Adam Moser and Jacob Moser; great grandchildren, Maggie Dominique, Zac, Emalee, Hailey, Hayden, Hunter, Aubree and A.J. Stewart, Isla, Everly and Lewis Onweller, Jackson, Greyson and Lawson Leu, Levi, Everett and Sullivan Moser.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth Olmstead; sisters, Katherine Olmstead and Arlene Onweller; great grandson, Isaiah James Onweller and grandson-in-law, Mark Opdahl; brothers-in-law, Donald Smith, Wayne Johnston and Larry Helberg.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing a show of sympathy are asked to consider contributions to Community Health Professionals Defiance Inpatient, 6817 St Rte 66N, Defiance, Ohio 43512 or Beulah United Methodist Church in her memory.  The family would like to thank Dr. Hoffman, Dr. Music, Dr. McClarren and the staff at FCHC for their excellent care and the staff of Defiance Inpatient Hospice for their loving care and compassion through this difficult time.
