The Pioneer Village Council held a short regular session on October 9, 2023 at 7 p.m. Present were Councilors Trevor West, Will Cable, Randy Cochran, Bill Turner, Ben Fiser, and Dean Frisbie.

Also present were Mayor Ed Kidston, Village Administrator Alan Fiser, Village Solicitor Tom Thompson, Fiscal Officer Gina Gruber, Police Chief Tim Livengood, and Fire Chief Denny Fackler.

Council began by approving the agenda for the night with one additional resolution to account for K9 funding, as well as the minutes from the September 11, 2023 meeting.

The financial report for September was approved, as were the bills and a Pioneer Hometown HDWR invoice for $240.46.

Chief Livengood shared the hard work being done by his department to secure grant funding for equipment and training expenses, as well as his department’s continued commitment to staying trained in compliance with the highest standards.

Fire Chief Fackler shared that a safety grant that was awarded to the department is set to be dispersed soon, as well as got approval to hire a probationary firefighter.

Village Administrator Alan Fiser shared that the parks have been cleaned up in preparation for fall, as well as the village’s plans to stay with their current health insurance company for the next term.

An ordinance appropriating funds for the K9 account was approved before council went into executive session at 7:17 p.m. to discuss the potential acquisition of property.

Coming out of executive session, council voted to approve a change order for Kexon Drive to account for changing from concrete to asphalt and approved the advertisement of two bids for a rescue engine and tanker truck.
