The Pulaski Township trustees held their regular meeting on Tuesday, February 24 at the township office.

Trustees present were Scott Noble, Terry Witte and Tom Saul. Fiscal Officer Deanne Batterson and township employee Scott Hobeck were also in attendance.

Batterson gave the financial report. The township received $18,952 in local tax revenue from the Williams County Auditor for February. They also received a $286 refund from the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation.

Discussion centered on the County Road E ditch just west of U.S. Route 127, where repairs are needed.

Hobeck raised concerns about the ditch, which is located near a trailer court along County Road E. He noted that truck traffic has created a berm in the area, and the problem is expected to worsen as Doc’s Diesel prepares to open its new warehouse nearby.

“I think we need to do something either to move that road ditch closer to the poles or we need to put tile in and fill in and get some type of a bank,” said Hobeck. “I think a cement truck earlier this winter went off at one point and nosed the front end and we had to fix it.”

Last year, Hobeck applied stone twice in the affected area. He is planning to do it again this year just to make it safe. As soon as he packs it, one or two vehicles drive over it and push it down into the ditch.

Saul commented that the township must be careful not to simply tile the ditch and cover it up, adding that they need to either address it for safety reasons or move the ditch back.

Hobeck said there is between eight and ten feet of space, which is wider than a mower width. He recommended they move the ditch back and reshape the front.

“With Doc’s Diesel out there now right there, we’ll have to do something to fill that in front of the trailer court,” he added.

A motion regarding the improvements to the County Road E ditch was tabled for further discussion until the next meeting.

Hobeck also spoke to a representative from ContractorsTools.com regarding the purchase of a laser for the township. He said the closest place to have the laser serviced was in Maumee.

Discussion concerning the purchase of a mower for the township was also tabled until the next meeting.

Trustees continued their discussion from the previous meeting regarding a tree removal on County Road C. The tree is currently hanging over the County Road C roadway and will eventually need to be removed.

Two bids to remove the tree were discussed. One bid was $2,500 and the other was $4,500.

It was suggested that Hobeck seek another price quote for the removal. Action was tabled on the tree removal until the next meeting.

The meeting adjourned at 7:25 p.m. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, March 10 at 6:30 p.m.
