Pulaski Township trustees received a brief update from Williams County Commissioner Scott Lirot regarding reducing flooding issues in the Bona Vesta subdivision during its regular meeting on Tuesday, April 14, with trustees Tom Saul, Scott Noble, and Terry Witte in attendance.
Lirot said the county is working to secure grant funding, and engineering work needed to be done for the $2.2 million project.
He added that Williams County Engineer Todd Roth is getting more information along with land acquisition.
Recently, the county had applied for state capital budget funding and funds for conservation through H2Ohio. The conservation aspect is possible because the current plans call for the creation of wetlands in the area as part of the project.
Noble gave an update on replacing the township building roof, which was recently damaged.
He received one price quote for a rubber roof from Richland Roofing of Defiance at a cost of $52,000. Trustees are waiting for a couple more price quotes before making a final decision.
Trustees approved the purchase of 1,000 washed tons of No. 8 limestone aggregate stone from The Gerken Companies of Napoleon. Cost of the stone is $27.25 per ton and will be delivered from The Custar Stone Company, which is owned by The Gerken Companies.
The township uses the stone for its chip and seal road work during the summer months.
Noble had received a couple of calls from the Lakeland Woods area concerning storm sewer cleaning. He reported that there has been a lot of water backing up and flowing across the roads.
“I talked with county engineer Todd Roth, and he said that he would be willing to allow some of his employees to come out and work with Steven (Hobeck) with the vac truck,” said Noble.
Trustees discussed the possibility of placing a recycling trailer on the township building property.
Hobeck said the township must go through the Williams County Health Department if they want one, and the health department does charge for using the recycling trailer.
Noble mentioned that people out at Lakeland Woods said they would like to have a recycling trailer once a month.
“They said every time they bring it up here (township building) when it’s setting out, it’s full whenever they get here,” said Noble. “So, they asked if we would just take one more day to set it out there. I don’t know how everybody else feels and figured I bring it up here.”
It was decided that the recycling trailer will be placed on the township building parking lot starting on May 1. Recyclable items will be accepted from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month.
Next meeting is Tuesday, April 28 at 6:30 p.m.
