Richard Allen Plum, 66, of rural Waldron, MI, died Thursday afternoon, September 6, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his loving family and caregivers. He was born March 13, 1952, in Hudson, to the late Glenn William and Ruth Irene (Haynes) Plum.
Richard was a 1970 graduate of Pittsford High School. He worked over 37 years at the former Hillsdale Tool. After it closed, he worked for several years as a sales associate at the Fayette and Pioneer Auto Parts stores.
A lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed farming, driving tractor, and the seasonal tasks of mowing his lawn and cutting wood. In his leisure time, he could be found fishing, hunting, working on various engines, or woodworking. A proud family man, Richard adored his family and will be sorely missed by many who were lucky to have known him.
Richard and the love of his life, Christine Brehm, were united in marriage on February 10, 1973, and they were blessed with over 45 wonderful years as husband and wife. She survives. Also surviving are four sons, Richard (Dorothy) Plum Jr. of Casper, WY, Randy (Manda) Plum of Bryan, OH, Rodney (Carleena) Plum of Hillsdale, MI, and Robert (Amber) Plum of Waldron; a brother, Charles Plum of Waldron; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and loving in-laws. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father- and mother-in-law, Tom and Mary Lou Brehm.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, September 9, 2018, from 1-6 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home in Fayette. A funeral service for Richard will be held Monday, September 10, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Samuel Wickard officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in the Waldron Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in honor of Richard can be designated to the Waldron District Library or Wright-Waldron Fire & EMS.
