Robert William Disbrow, age 87, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away in his home, Monday evening, January 30, 2023.

He was born September 19, 1935 in Chesterfield Township to Montral M. and Bulah Marie (Loveland) Disbrow.

Bob was a 1953 graduate of Swanton High School, and enlisted in the United States Army.  He served in the 83rd Infantry Division and was honorably discharged in 1963.

Bob proudly continued serving his country as a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force with the Ohio Air National Guard until 1966. On August 25, 1958, Bob married his beloved wife, Helen Leininger.


Bob started his working career at McNeill Chevrolet, and went on to work as a gas service technician for the Ohio Gas Company for the next 35 years.

Bob was a car enthusiast and member of the Pharoah’s Car Club. He attended Trinity United Methodist Church and was a member of the Swanton American Legion Post #479 and VFW Swanton Memorial Post #8598.

He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star. Bob and Helen shared many wonderful memories traveling throughout the United States.


Bob’s most memorable were the trips to the Swiss Alps and Venice while he was in the service in Europe.

Bob will be greatly missed by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Helen; son, David (Kathy) Disbrow; daughter, Deb (Joe) Keller; grandchildren, Matthew (Christine) Disbrow, Mark Disbrow and Erica Keller; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Mason, and a third on the way; his brothers, Donald Disbrow and Terry (Laura) Mull; sister, Vicky (Rollin) Schaffner; many nieces and nephews; and special family, Rhonda and Theresa.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Julie Krauss.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 2nd from 5 to 7 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where services will begin at 7:00 pm, with Pastor Bruce Perry officiating. Services will conclude with Military Rites by the Swanton American Legion Honor Guard.


Memorial contributions may be made to the Swanton Fire and Rescue or Swanton American Legion c/o Honor Guard.
