Rose Anne (Howe) Bratton, age 88, of Delta, died May 8, 2013 at her home. She was born March 17, 1925 in Holgate, OH, the daughter of the late James and Mary (Spangler) Howe. On February 15, 1947, she married Carl Bratton of Delta, OH. He preceded her in death February, 2000. Rose Anne graduated from Napoleon High School in 1943. She worked at the Napoleon Light and Water office until her marriage. After marriage, she was a school secretary for 32 years; serving 30 years at Pike Elementary School until it was closed, then 2 years as secretary to the Middle School guidance counselor at PDY Schools. She and her husband were very active in their church, in Aetna Grange and in farm organizations. Rose Anne also was a 4-H club advisor and a Girl Scout leader. They had two children, Carla and Steve and were kept busy with their school activities. The family traveled throughout the states and southern Canada during summer vacations. When the children were older, Carl and Rose Anne traveled to Hawaii and Europe several times. On one of their European trips, they attended the Passion Play at Oberammergau, Germany. After Carl’s death, Rose Anne continued to travel to Europe, the United Kingdom and Maritime Provinces, until her health declined. Vienna and Salzburg, Austria were her favorite destinations. She loved the music and the theaters of the country. She even enjoyed being personally serenaded on one visit. Rose Anne is survived by her children, Carla Bratton of Wauseon and Steve (Lori) Bratton of Upper Arlington, OH. She has seven grandchildren, Loreli Bratton of Denver, CO, Boone, Cyndal and Steven Waldvogel of Toledo, Ricky Hartnett of Sioux City, IA, Ryan Hartnett of Independence, KY and Renee Bratton of Upper Arlington, OH. Four great-grandchildren, Isabeau Bratton of Denver, CO, Jayda and Brody Hartnett of Sioux City, IA and Gage Waldvogel of Toledo. Also surviving are brothers, Rev. Norbert Howe of Lima, OH, Paul Howe of Napoleon, John (Linda) Howe of Napoleon and sister Carolyn Schnitkey of Napoleon, brothers-in-law, Frank Howe of Westerville, OH, Tom Helmheckel of Cincinnati and sister-in-law, Peggy Patterson of Napoleon. Dr. and Mrs. James Bratton of Columbus also survive. She was also blessed with numerous nieces and nephews, many friends and dear UNO friends and most gratefully by Beverly Pfund, her faithful caregiver. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth Howe, Joan Helmheckel; brother, Bill Howe; sister-in-law, Joanne Howe; brother-in-law, Junior Schnitkey and great-nephew, Jade Stiles.
