Rosemary “Rose” Borton, 64 years, of West Unity, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016 at her residence. Rose was born May 13, 1951 in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Charles J. and Cora “Pearl” (Meyer) Vander Horst Sr. She married Keith “Chester” Borton on July 23, 1988 in Alvordton, Ohio and he preceded her in death on December 2, 2011. Rose worked as a machine operator at Ferro Corporation for 30 years until her retirement in 2012. She was a member of the Montpelier Moose 312, Montpelier Eagles Aries 2246, and the West Unity American Legion Post 669 Ladies Auxillary. Rose found enjoyment in Gardening, creating oil paintings, and riding motorcycles. She also cherished her time with her friends and family.
Surviving is her mother, Pearl Kwascigroh of Stryker; two brothers, Charles J. (Patrecia) Vander Horst Jr. of Alvordton, Paul D. (Barb) Watkins of Bryan; one sister, Jean (Ivan) Phillips of West Unity; one brother-in-law, Richard Traxler; several nieces and nephews, and many special friends. Rose was preceded in death by her father, Charles J. Vander Horst Sr.; husband, Keith “Chester” Borton; one son, Brian Jay Tennant; one sister, Linda S. Traxler; one brother, Steven M. Watkins and one brother-in-law, Ralph T. Williams.
Visitation for Rosemary “Rose” Borton will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2016 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. in Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 202 North Liberty Street, West Unity. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Chaplain David Ordorica officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Grove Cemetery, West Unity.
