The Royalton Township Trustees met for their regular session on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 7 p.m., with all members present along with Fiscal Officer Clint Barnes and Lyons Fire Chief Zach Miramontes.
The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance before trustees moved to approve the minutes from the Feb. 9 meeting. Following that, the fiscal officer’s report was accepted, and all bills were approved for payment.
Discussion on old business included several ongoing projects within the township. Planning continues for a cemetery stone project expected in spring 2026, while no updates were provided regarding the potential sale of a township grader.
Trustees also noted that a health and age policy for the fire department remains under review. Work is ongoing to gather information for cemetery plotting, with comparisons being made between service providers.
Action was taken on improvements to the fire hall, as trustees approved a bid from Earl Mechanical to install a shower at a cost of $22,967. The motion passed unanimously.
Road maintenance was also addressed, with trustees approving a fog seal quote from the Fulton County Engineer’s Office. In addition, a leveling course will be added to County Road 10 from U.S. 20 to County Road N as part of the project.
Under new business, trustees approved a measure to have the Fulton County Engineer’s Office stake the right of way along County Road U from County Road 12 west to the township line on both sides of the road.
The board also authorized applying for the State Road Sign Grant, with Trustee Neil Shaw assigned to complete the application through the online portal.
Trustees further approved the ballot proof for a May election levy renewal, clearing the way for it to appear before voters. Additionally, a letter regarding needed repairs to County Road U was approved and will be sent to the appropriate parties concerning damage to the roadway.
With no further business to address, the meeting was adjourned at 7:39 p.m. The next regular meeting of the Royalton Township Trustees is scheduled for April 13, 2026, at 7 p.m.
