Ruth M. Lantz, age 105, passed away from this life on August 13, 2024 at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home. Ruth was born December 29, 1918 at home in Pettisville, Ohio.
She was the daughter of Ammon and Erma (Buehrer) Lantz and was the sixth child of nine children.
Ruth went to first grade at Pettisville School then lived with her Uncle Irvin and Aunt Florence in Toledo, Ohio where she attended Fielbech School for the Deaf. While she was there, she learned to read lips.
When she was growing up, she enjoyed going to basketball games with her brothers and sisters. She was a homemaker and made great seafoam candy. Her mother taught her how to cook and bake.
Her nieces and nephews will always remember how she would “stir ice cream” for them and it was the best! She loved to travel and took many trips with her sister, Opal.
She is survived by four nieces: Pam (Ron) Eade, Sandy (Ned) Wyse, Dawn (Jon) Lugbill and Kandy (Jim) Selgo and three nephews: Steve Lauber, Alan (Gina) Lantz and Terry Lantz, along with great-nieces and great-nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Wilbur, Emerson, Edwin, Dale, Robert and Eugene; and sisters Marjorie Stickley and Opal Lauber; nieces Karin Cramer and Doreen Moening and nephew James Lantz.
A private graveside service will be held at the Pettisville Cemetery. Short Funeral Home in Archbold has been entrusted with the arrangements.
