HPIM1749-WEBKatie Cramer, left, interim director for S.A.R.A.H.’s House, was guest speaker for the CHWC-Montpelier Hospital Auxiliary Christmas luncheon meeting held Monday, Dec. 14th at 12 noon at First Presbyterian Church, Montpelier. She was the guest of Deb Barry, right, auxiliary program committee member, who presented her with an appreciation gift. S.A.R.A.H.’s House was originally founded in 1991 by Tony Gretick as an organization serving Williams County, based in Bryan, to assist as a Sexual Abuse Responsive Awareness House. For over 20 years SARAH’s House, working with local law enforcement, has served as a confidential advocate for crime victims of domestic violence, child abuse and elderly abuse, offering safe sanctuary first and emergency assistance for shelter, food, finances, and utilities. Also offered are a transitional housing program, job searches, referrals for necessary counseling and attorneys. A monthly support group meets on a regular basis and classes are offered for anger management, self-defense, make-up, yoga, etc. to empower victims’ independence. Funding for SARAH’s House comes from state grants, United Way, and private donations for operating expenses and client care. North Western Electric Co-op. also provides support. An annual public event such as the Holiday Soiree is held in November with auctions and entertainment to raise funds for needed programs. Volunteers are needed to help with day care. Personal hygiene items may be donated for the toiletry closet at the center. More information is available at the Bryan office Monday thru Friday 8:30 am-4:30 pm or call 419-636-7272 for Katie or Julie. After office hours call 211 for Safe House of Ruth, serving Williams and Defiance County. In an emergency situation, please call 911 for assistance.
