Angola, Ind.-Cameron Hospital’s first baby of the year took her time arriving. Parents Jessica Newton and Brayden Shirley welcomed their first baby, Scarlett Rose Shirley on January 5, 2016 at 12:53 p.m. Scarlett weighed 6 lb. 8.5 oz. and was 18 in. long. Both mother and baby are doing well. “She came a few days early,” said mom, Jessica Newton. Baby Scarlett was delivered by Dr. William Smith.
Cameron staff presented the baby with a variety of gifts to help them with baby Scarlett. Retailers who donated gifts for the new baby included the Cameron Gift Shop, WalMart Super Center, Lakeland Nursing Center, Angola Chamber of Commerce, Oshkosh B’Gosh Outlet, Steuben County WIC Program and the Cameron OB Department.
Both parents expressed their gratitude for the gifts, and are looking forward to taking their new baby home. “Thank you so much to all the businesses and the hospital for the wonderful gifts,” said Jessica Newton (mom). “The people here are really nice,” said Brayden Shirley (dad). The family resides in Angola and are new to the area, only having been in Steuben County for the past month.
