Scoring Summaries for Wednesday, April 13, 2016:

VARSITY SOFTBALL

Hilltop 19, Fayette 0

The Cadets used nine hits to cross the plate 19 times in the Buckeye Border Conference win. Hilltop’s  Bailey Funkhouser and Baylee Schmitt supplied the fire power as each batted in four runs apiece. Funkhouser belted two triples and Schmitt had a double and triple. Allie Schmitt contributed with two RBI and Becca Miller along with Ariana Brown had one RBI each.  Aubrey Wyse was stellar on the mound as she gave up only one hit and accumulated five strikeouts.  Fayette’s lone hit was by Kaitlyn Brubaker. Brubaker also pitched the complete game for the Eagles.

VARSITY BASEBALL


Archbold 8, Montpelier 5 (non-league)

The Bluestreaks moved to 5-0 as they handed the Locomotives a non-league loss. Derek Walker finished three for three with a stolen base and RBI for Archbold.  Joining him were Lathon Babcock who had two hits in three tries including an RBI. Ben Bucklew was two for four with an RBI and Toby Walker had a double that included an RBI.  Brandon Miller got the win for Archbold as the sophomore hurler allowed three hits giving up four runs with four strikeouts. Montpelier’s leading hitter was Andrew Luke who was two for three and batted in three Loco runs with two doubles. Wyatt Gulick took the loss as he pitched three innings.

North Central 7, Fayette 6

North Central scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to sneak passed Fayette. Leading hitter for North Central were David Pinc with three singles and two RBI, Josh Bailey and Dakota Pitts with singles and Steven Williams, Andrew Baughman and Ryan France with one RBI each. Travis Wagner’s single produced two RBI for Fayette. Karsen Schaffner, Isaiah Garrett and Joel Smith had RBI singles for Fayette while Casen Burkholder and Porter Maginn singled. Max Baker added another RBI for Fayette. Josh Bailey got the win on the mound. He faced 34 Fayette batters in seven innings allowing six hits and striking out four. Joel Smith took the loss as he faced 33 batters allowing five hits and striking out eight.
