Spring Sports Roundup For April 8th, 2021

VARSITY BASEBALL

Hilltop 15 Fayette 0 (5 inn.)

Ian Hoffman fired a complete game one-hitter while racking up eight strikeouts to lead Hilltop (3-4, 3-1 in BBC) to a run rule win over Fayette (0-4, 0-2). Hoffman also had a big night at the plate by going 2-5 with a double and five RBIs.

Montpelier 13 Edon 1 (6 inn.)

Just five of Montpelier’s 13 runs were earned thanks to nine errors by Edon as the Locos rolled to 13-1 win. Collin Crisenbery and Tylor Yahraus each had a three-hit night with Crisenberry adding three RBIs. Crisenberry also pitched a complete game for Montpelier (5-1, 3-0 in BBC) allowing just one run on three hits with four strikeouts. Ethan Steinke, Garrett Skiles, and Konnor Prince each had a single for Edon (1-7, 1-3).


Ayersville 3 Edgerton 0 (9 inn.)

The Pilots broke through with three runs in the ninth inning to get the win in the GMC opener for both clubs. Creed Muehlfeld led the Edgerton (3-5, 0-1 in GMC) offense by going 2-2 with a double in the loss.

Delta 10 Swanton 2


Delta led 3-0 entering the third inning where they scored five runs to pull away for the win over Swanton (1-7) in a non-league matchup between the NWOAL rivals. The Panthers (2-4) attack was paced by Bryce Gillen who went 3-3 with an RBI and Max Hoffman was 2-4 with a double and batted in two runs.

Archbold d. Paulding 6-5

VARSITY SOFTBALL

Anthony Wayne 11 Archbold 2

After a slow start, Anthony Wayne plated 10 runs over the final five innings as they pulled away for an 11-2 win at Archbold. Kylie Sauder smacked a double for the lone Archbold (3-1) extra base hit on the night while Ella Bowman recorded an RBI.

Swanton 10 Delta 0 (5 inn.)

Brianna Williams pitched a perfect game while ringing up seven strikeouts to lead Swanton to the win in five innings over Delta (0-5). Williams and Trista Eitniear paced the Lady Bulldogs (4-0) offense as they each had two hits and three RBIs.

Montpelier 13 Edon 3 (6 inn.)

Edon grabbed an early 3-0 nothing lead before the Locos responded with four runs in the second inning and five in the third as they went on to a 13-3 win in BBC softball. Emily Fritsch had a double and two RBIs for Montpelier (2-3, 2-1 in BBC) while Bianca Phongphiou drove in two runs on two hits. Carlie Kiess registered two singles for Edon (0-2, 0-2) with Paige Briner and Ashley Kaylor each tallying an RBI.

Edgerton 2 Ayersville 1

Down 1-0 going to their half of the sixth inning, Noelle Ritter tied the game with an RBI double and Ashlyn Sleesman provided the game winning RBI with a sacrifice fly to center to give Edgerton (3-6, 1-0 in GMC) the 2-1 win. Sleesman fired a complete game to get the win for the Bulldogs by allowing just one run on four hits with nine strikeouts.

Hilltop 27 Fayette 0 (3 inn.)

Kodi Brenner threw a perfect three innings in the circle and went 2-5 with a double, triple, and four RBIs to lead Hilltop to the win over Fayette (0-2, 0-2 in BBC). The Cadets (7-1, 2-0), who had 14 hits as a team, got two hits each from Ragen Roesch, Kacy Connolly, and Arleigh VanArsdalen.
