COLUMBUS –State Representative Josh Williams (R-Sylvania Twp.) has introduced the O.H.I.O. Sportsmanship Act, which will make the act of planting a flag on the field of Ohio Stadium a fifth-degree felony.

“This legislation is about public safety,” said Williams. “Not only did this happen during the biggest rivalry in sports, but it also happened in four other games during rivalry week.”

“Seeing these games devolve into a brawl on the field does nothing expect disrespect the game, the institutions and puts everyone on the field in harm’s way, including our law enforcement that are responsible for the safety of the players.”

A fifth-degree felony is punishable of six to 12 months in prison, $2,500 fine and up to five years of probation.  The O.H.I.O. Sportsmanship Act has not been assigned to a House committee.
