The Swanton School Board approved its organizational meeting date and appointed a president pro tempore among a variety of other normal business during its final meeting of 2023.
The organizational meeting will be held on January 9 at 6 p.m. Board member Kris Oberheim was named president pro tempore for the meeting.
OTHER BUSINESS
The board approved the Swanton High School 2024 graduate list, pending completion of graduation requirements by all those included.
They also approved early graduation for Penta students Skyler Curtis and Mason Alexander, who both plan to begin working full-time in January.
The board approved the submission of a Career-Technical Expansion program waiver for the 2023-2024 school year for grades seven and eight due to the district being unable to comply with the program requirements.
The board approved a measure to increase the rate for substitute teachers from $100 per day to $110 per day effective Jan. 1, 2024.
The board approved depository agreements for accounts at Farmers & Merchants State Bank, Fifth Third Bank, PNC Bank, Key Bank, and First Federal Bank of Delta, the last of which is the location of a new account for certain charitable donations.
Staffer Pamela Raab from Swanton High School was recognized by the board after being named the 2023 Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators (OASSA) Administrative Assistant of the Year at the OASSA Administrative Assistant Conference.
The board approved just under $36,000 in appropriations changes affecting the high school principal, elementary book fair, boys basketball, boys golf, girls basketball, softball data communication fund, and Title I lines.
The board approved changes to reporting services for 1095s related to the Affordable Care Act. The board approved a measure indicating its ongoing compliance with federal nutrition guidelines for students.
The board approved a letter of understanding with the Napoleon Area City School District for Title I services at St. Augustine Catholic School as well as a service agreement with Sara’s Garden for Title I services at New Horizon Academy, both for the 2023-2024 school year.
The board accepted roughly $15,270 in donations including more than $1,750 for meals and negative lunch balances, $5,000 for Swanton Middle School elective classes supplies, and $3,500 for Swanton Middle School Robotics.
The board approved a choir trip to Disney World in Orlando from November 21 to 26, 2024.
