Swanton School Board Awards Commendation To Erin Shaffer

The Swanton Board of Education held their meeting on Wednesday, August 18th at 6:30 p.m. The Board started off the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance followed by a moment of silence.

The board then moved to hear concerns from any public that was present followed by approval of the agenda. The board then moved to give commendation to Erin Shaffer for volunteering for the Connecting Kids to Meals/Swanton Schools Backpack Buddies Free Summer Meal Program.

The board then moved to approve the minutes from the previous meeting held on July 21st and the financial reports for the month ending July 31st.

The following donations were then approved: $357.04 from Lifetouch to Recreation Fund, $3,000 from North Star BlueScope Steel to Athletic Fund, $100.50 from Tom and Joyce Shelley to P.I. Fund for baseball/softball projects, $998.09 from North Star BlueScope Steel to P.I. Fund for baseball/softball projects, $100 from Drs. J Brennan and A Johnson to P.I. Fund for baseball/softball projects, and $1,000 from Darrin Mossing to P.I. Fund for baseball/softball projects.

The board then heard a report with listings of investments from RedTree Investment Group. The report showed no commissions were paid on any commercial paper purchase sales.


The board then moved to approve the advance of $125,000 to the Permanent Improvement roofing project.

The board then moved on to hear new business. A discussion took place regarding the Fulton County Common Opening Agreement for schools. This agreement was made in conjunction with the Fulton County Health Department.

The board then discussed the OSBA Capital Conference to decide on a delegate and alternate to attend the event. A recommendation was made to approve the shared services agreement for Fulton County Schools.


A recommendation was also made to approve a three-year contract for student athlete trainer services.

The board then heard personnel recommendations from the Superintendent followed by a report on the buildings.

The board then heard comments and statements from the other board members before entering into executive session. Upon returning from executive session the meeting was adjourned.
