The Swanton Village Council voted to abandon an undeveloped road easement during a special meeting Thursday evening.
The easement was located on a 19-acre property at the intersection of West Park Drive and West Airport Highway, which was originally platted as 10 parcels with a road.
Council members voted to abandon that road easement and declare it to be “no longer necessary for public purposes.”
The reason for the change of plans, According to Village Administrator Shannon Shulters, is that the property owner is having the site replatted into a single parcel for a prospective buyer.
The resolution was passed on an emergency basis by a unanimous vote (Councilwoman Dianne Westhoven was absent) at the end of the four-minute meeting. No other business was considered at the meeting.
