Swanton High School senior Brody Voight was in the spotlight Monday at a ceremony celebrating his decision to sign with Adrian College to attend and play volleyball for the school this fall.
Voight played volleyball for both the Swanton team and the Premier Academy travel team, and said he is looking forward to playing Division III men’s volleyball in the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League as part of the Adrian Bulldogs team. In his academics, he will major in psychology.
“I chose Adrian just because I really liked the team culture and the campus there,” Voight said.
“I’m looking forward to really growing a good connection with the team and playing at the next level, so very intense gameplay, and just having fun while doing it.”
Voight said he was looking at a handful of other schools, but Adrian College “made it very easy for me to narrow it down.”
Voight’s mother, Melanie, was in attendance along with his father, Robert, and brothers Nolan and Gavin. She said she was excited when she found out he had selected Adrian College.
“I was really happy, it was his first choice he really liked, and then he was getting recruited by plenty of other colleges that were further away, but I was really happy that he was staying closer to home,” she said.
Lisa Ludlow, Voight’s coach at Swanton, was also in attendance at the signing ceremony. “I’m super excited for him. He has the potential, he’s shown it for years,” Ludlow said.
