Ted D. Thorp, 58, of Montpelier, passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at his home. He was born on November 4, 1959 in Montpelier to Phil D. and LeeAnn (Hallock) Thorp. Ted graduated from Montpelier High School in 1979.

Ted worked for Martin Sprocket and Gear in Montpelier from May of 1979 to the present time. For many years he was a coach as part of the Montpelier Baseball programs.

Ted was a member of the Montpelier Eagles and the Montpelier Moose, where he was involved with organizing the annual OSU vs Michigan party with his brothers. He enjoyed darts, golf, cornhole, bowling, fishing, socializing with friends and remaining active with baseball.  Ted was a huge fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Detroit Tigers and the Minnesota Vikings.

Ted is survived by his parents, Phil and LeeAnn Thorp of Montpelier; three sons, Lance (Denise) Thorp, Ryan (Ashley Zigler) Thorp and Brock (Kaley) Thorp all of Montpelier; five grandchildren, Trent Thorp, Neriah Thorp, Alea Hutchins, Reddick Thorp and Elsie Thorp; and two brothers, Troy (Helen Spangler) Thorp and Patrick (Betsy) Thorp all of Montpelier.

Visitation for Ted will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 3-8 pm at the Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier. Ted will be laid to rest in a private burial at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier.


Memorial contributions may be given to Montpelier Youth Baseball Program.
