THE HILLS … Scoring 720 points in their five wins, The Hills edged out Brothers of King’s Cross, who tallied 710 points in their five wins at the Sunday, January 26, Bible Quiz meet. The Hills are made up of area home schoolers including, from left, fourth year quizzer from Stryker, Nautica Stamm; a rookie from Delta, Libbey Faehnle; also from Stryker, brothers Beckley and Zander Stamm quizzing in their sixth and seventh year respectively; and rookies, Tirzah Beck, Archbold, and Olivia Tucker, Delta. Bible quizzers have nine years of eligibility, from age 12 to 20.
PRESS RELEASE – Northwest Ohio’s Bible Quiz roster now boasts 78 youth with three new quizzers added at Sunday’s Bible Quiz meet hosted by Pettisville Missionary Church.
Sunday’s 36 league matches were divided in five rooms. Eight of the fifteen teams averaged 100 or more points: The Hills, Precept, averaged 144; Brothers, King’s Cross, 142; Roaring Waves, North Clinton, 109; Perplexity, Pettisville Missionary 108; Waymaker, Eastland Baptist, 107; Devoted, Eastland Baptist, 104; Tongues of Fire, Central Mennonite, 101; and Servant Girls, North Clinton, 100.
In one match, Brothers had an unusually high score of 205 points with five of their six team members quizzing out and their new team member answering the last question.
Brothers include Gideon Banfield, Braxton Walters, Andrew Yenzer, Elijah and Max Grunden and rookie quizzer Hudson Geisler.
After two season meets, North Clinton’s Raging Waves, 8-1, still leads the area, followed by King’s Cross’s Brothers, 7-1-1. Eight individuals quizzed out in all their matches.
Scoring 175 points in their five matches were cousins Andre and Preston Nofziger, brothers Drew and Landon Ringenberg, along with brothers Beckley and Zander Stamm. Scoring 140 points in their four matches were Bo King and Keren Maldonado.
With only one week to prepare, quizzers will attempt to learn all they can about the first two chapters of Acts for the February 2 meet hosted by North Clinton Church, County Road F, Wauseon. All are welcome to attend; singing begins at 1:50 p.m.
