The Williams County Grand Jury convened on April 20 and returned indictments against 25 individuals facing a total of 36 charges. Those indicted include:
David F. Akins, 52, of Wauseon was indicted on two counts of intimidation, each a third-degree felony. Akins is accused of causing unlawful threat or harm to two public servants in the discharge of their duties on or about April 9.
Eryn L. Arend, 25, of Toledo was indicted for aggravating trafficking in drugs, a second-degree felony. Authorities allege that Arend sold or offered to sell methamphetamine on or about May 13, 2019.
Michael C. Barnes, 26, of Montpelier was indicted on one count of failure to appear, a fourth-degree felony. Barnes is accused of failing to appear as required by the court in connection to a previous felony charge.
Joshep M. Branham, 35, of Pioneer was indicted for aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony. It is alleged that Branham possessed or used fentanyl on or about April 10.
Florence E. Hammill, 45, of Hudson, Michigan was indicted on one count of receiving stolen property, a fifth-degree felony, and one count of forgery, also a fifth-degree felony. Authorities allege that Hamill obtained blank checks, which she knew or had reasonable cause to know were stolen, and forged those checks on or about July 17, 2020.
Sierra J. Hatchett, 26, of Defiance was indicted for felonious assault, a second-degree felony. Authorities allege that Hatchett attempted to strangle a woman on or about March 29.
Kaleb A. Herold, 21, of Napoleon was indicted on two counts of burglar, each a second-degree felony, and one count of grand theft, a third-degree felony. Authorities allege that Herold broke into a West Unity property on or about October 22, 2020. Authorities additionally allege that Herold broke into a different West Unity property on or about November 22 and stole a firearm from the property.
James J. Hutchison, 44, of Montpelier was indicted for domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony. Hutchison, who was previously convicted of domestic violence by the Bryan Municipal Court, is accused of causing or attempting to cause physical harm to a family or household member on or about April 12.
Homer H. Hulbert, 65, of Montpelier was indicted on two counts of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drug of abuse. Hulbert, who was previously convicted of a felony violation of a similar charge, is accused of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated on or about or December 31, 2020 and April 6, 2021. A specification to Count I of the indictment indicates the vehicle in question is subject to seizure and forfeiture as it was used in the commission of the offense.
Jared J. Hummel, 29, of Bowling Green was indicted on one count of abusing harmful intoxicants, a fifth-degree felony. Hummel, who was previously convicted of a drug abuse offense, is accused of inhaling intoxicants known to produce intoxication or similar psychological effects.
Devin E. Ickes, 26, of Pioneer was indicted for aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony. Ickes is accused of possessing or using methamphetamine on or about April 3.
Terry W. Leu, Jr., 42, of Montpelier was indicted on one count of domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony. Leu, who was previously convicted of domestic violence by the Bryan Municipal Court, is accused of causing or attempting to cause physical harm to a family household member on or about April 4.
James D. Love, 50, of Bryan was indicted on one count of failure to appear, a fourth-degree felony. Love is accused of failing to appear as required by the court in connection to a previous felony charge.
Jared W. Lucas, 34, of Bryan was indicted for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drug of abuse. Lucas, who has previously been convicted for five or more similar violations in the past 20 years, is accused of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated on or about March 27. A specification to the indictment indicates that the vehicle in question is subject to seizure and forfeiture.
Travis M. Nye, 25, of Montpelier was indicted for felonious assault, a second-degree felony. It is alleged that Nye caused serious physical harm to another on or about April 4.
Damien J. Pursel, 26, of West Unity was indicted on a total of four counts including two counts of grand theft, a third-degree felony; one count of breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony; and one count of burglary, a second-degree felony. Pursel is accused of breaking into and/or burglarizing two separate West Unity properties on or about October 22, 2020 and December 16, 2020 as well as stealing firearms from the properties.
Constance E. Roberts, 24, of Montpelier was indicted on one count of failure to appear, a fourth-degree felony. Roberts is accused of failing to appear as required by the court in connection to a previous felony charge.
Austin C. Schudel, 23, of Montpelier was indicted for rape, a first-degree felony. Schudel is charged with engaging in sexual conduct with a 12-year-old female on or about September 1, 2020.

Sara M. Secord, 33, of Montpelier was indicted on one count of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, and one count of corrupting another with drugs, a fourth-degree felony. Secord is accused of possessing or using methamphetamine as well as offering a juvenile marijuana on or about January 21.
Tonya M. Suffel, 50, of Bryan was indicted on one count of failure to appear, a fourth-degree felony. Suffel is accused of failing to appear as required by the court in connection to a previous felony charge.
Andrew D. Seeley, 21, of Montpelier was indicted on one count of failure to appear, a fourth-degree felony. Seeley is accused of failing to appear as required by the court in connection to a previous felony charge.
Nikki Swary, 33, of Bryan was indicted on one count of theft from a person in a protected class, a fifth-degree felony, and one count of forgery, also a fifth-degree felony. Authorities allege that Swary stole a blank check, which she also forged, on or about July 11, 2020.
Austin D. Swirles, 20, of Fayette was indicted on one count of grand theft, a third-degree felony, and one count of breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony. Swirles is accused of breaking into a property in West Unity and stealing a firearm.
Brandon T. Wierman, 24, of Maumee was indicted for failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony. Wierman is charged with failing to stop after receiving a signal on or about March 25.
Spencer L. Yoder, 18, of Bryan was indicted for felonious assault, a second-degree felony. It is alleged that Yoder caused physical harm to a 17-year-old male on or about March 26.
It should be noted that an indictment is merely an accusation and that all criminal defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
