Two-Vehicle Crash In Lucas County Injures Swanton Man

Toledo – The Ohio State Highway Patrol Toledo Post is handling an injury crash that occurred on US 20 near King Road, Sylvania Township, at approximately 11:31am on February 23, 2024.

A 2007 Ford F150, operated by Dennis Howard, age 59, from Swanton, was driving westbound on US 20. Mr. Howard drove left of center and side swiped a 2014 Ford F250, which was driving eastbound on US 20, and was being operated by Joshua Bricker, age 26 of Toledo.

Mr. Howard continued to drive off the left side of the roadway and struck a utility pole, gas line and a sign.

Mr. Bricker was not injured, and Mr. Howard was transported to Toledo Hospital with serious injuries. Mr. Howard was not wearing his seatbelt. Mr. Bricker was wearing his seatbelt.

Impairment does not appear to be a factor in the crash. US 20 was closed for several hours after the crash due to a gas leak.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Sylvania Township Police Department, Sylvania Fire and Rescue, Ohio Department of Transportation, Columbia Gas, and Toledo Edison. The crash remains under investigation.
