VARSITY FOOTBALL: Evergreen Stays Undefeated With Comeback Win Over Lake

Evergreen 38, Lake 28

MILLBURY – Evergreen capped off an undefeated non-league slate Friday night as the Vikings held off Lake, 38-28.

Trailing 14-0 after one quarter of play, the Vikings (3-0) regrouped and got a pair of second quarter touchdowns.


Evergreen quarterback Bryce Bolger connected with Quinten Eisel on a nine-yard scoring pass and Hayes Studenka followed with a 12-yard touchdown run.

After the Flyers (0-3) had taken a 21-14 lead at halftime, the Vikings answered back with a pair of touchdowns and a field goal.

Bolger connected with Will Ruetz on a 12-yard scoring strike. He also scored on a one-yard plunge. Alex Mossing kicked a 32-yard field goal for Evergreen. Ruetz then picked off a Lake aerial and returned it 55 yards to the house securing the Vikings victory.


Julian Rodriguez scored three times for Lake on runs of 2, 5 and 13 yards. Bolger completed 14 of 20 passes for 174 yards and two TDs for Evergreen while adding 87 yards on the ground on 16 carries.

Eisel had 69 yards on six carries and Studenka added 52 yards on 11 carries. Mossing had seven receptions for 52 yards.

Evergreen hosts Wauseon (0-3) on Friday in the Northwest Ohio Athletic League opener.
