WEST UNITY – In a matchup between two of the area’s top softball programs, Archbold squeaked out a 1-0 shutout victory over Hilltop, in non-league action.
The Streaks, who improved to 4-0 on the season, pushed across the deciding run in the top half of the sixth inning on a one-out RBI double by Charlee Forward scoring Adi Kinsman who had earlier reached base on a line drive single. Kinsman collected three singles in the game.
Makena Thiel picked up the win in the circle for Archbold. She allowed just four hits with ten strikeouts and three walks.
Kelsy Connolly took the loss for Hilltop (3-1) allowing four hits with four strikeouts but didn’t walk a batter. Halle Jones and Brooklyn Kuszmaul each collected a double for the Cadets.
