The Village of Pioneer Council approved Mayor Kidston appointment of a new fiscal officer for the village. Nikki Mittelstaedt will take over the position on September 2. The position, previously held by Gina Gruber was vacated on August 9th due to her resignation.

Mayor Kidston spoke highly of Mrs. Mittelstaedt during his appointment to village council stating, “Nikki is well versed in the requirements of this position having worked for the local electric and gas co-op for nearly 15 years.”

“Graduating from North Central, Northwest State and Trine University she has the education background to preform the duties of this office.”

“Currently residing outside Fremont, Indiana, Nikki spent many years living in Pioneer and so she will not be an unfamiliar face to most of our residents.

“Her familiarity with the area, education and business background makes her an outstanding candidate to make it a smooth transition”

“I’m excited to take over this important position in the town I grew up. Pioneer is a growing and prosperous community with so many positive things happening”, stated Mittelstaed.

“Helping Pioneer to continue its growth for a better tomorrow will bea challenge I accept and look forward to. Thank you to Mayor Kidston and village council for providing me with this outstanding opportunity.”

Council voted unanimously 5-0 (Joe Nickloy absent) to accept the mayor’s appointment at an annual starting salary of $65,000 during the August 12th regular council meeting.
