FAYETTE – Virginia Lee Buehrer, age 92, of Fayette, passed away at home on Sunday, July 21, 2024, under the care of Heartland Hospice for one week.
She was born on August 25, 1931, to the late Clair and Lucille (Mohler) Borton.
Virginia attended Zone School until the eighth grade, and then in 1949, she graduated from Gorham-Fayette High School. On September 14, 1969, she married Richard A. Buehrer, and he survives.
Virigina worked at Fayette Tubular until her retirement. She was also a member of Fayette Methodist Church.
She was a loving mother of four children and grandmother of many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Virginia volunteered for many years for Meals on Wheels and the food bank; as well as serving on the Fire Belles for Fayette Fire Department.
Surviving are her husband of just shy of 55 years, Dick – who took wonderful care of Virginia until the time she passed; children, Becky (David) Lichtenwald, Jill Flinchum, Tod Schaffner, and Amy Schaffner; grandchildren, Chad, Brooke, Keri, Tyler, Jade, Nick, Mikhaela, and Fernando; great-grandchildren, Ciara, Terrill, Tremaine, Addisen, Karli, Anabelle, and Judah; great-great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Beckam, Raidim, and Jody; and brother, David (Karen) Borton. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Borton, and grandson, Adam.
Memorial visitation for Virginia will be held at the Fayette Methodist Church’s Family Life Center on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM, at which time memorial services will take place. Pastor Mickey Richardson will officiate.
