The Wauseon Board of Education held its meeting on Monday, March 9. The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a special recognition.

This recognition was for Kali Spengler, an 11th-grade student, who recently claimed a state title in girls diving, as well as recognition tied to the OSBA Purple Star Award.

The agenda also included two additions, a resignation under the superintendent’s report and a NEOLA policy item related to food services.

Financial items included fiscal year 2026 appropriations totaling $34,037,948.27, along with donations and then and now certificates. Donations included support for the Wauseon School Food Pantry, the Wauseon High School Food Service Donation Key, the athletic department, and the Wauseon Primary School Action Team.

Donated items were also listed for the WPS Tech Free Campaign, including Skip-Bo games, Candy Land games, and decks of cards.

The then and now certificates included $6,461 for additional juvenile detention center costs and $15,268.75 for additional snow and ice mitigation. Under personnel, the board discussed a three-year administrative contract for Trent Thomas (pictured) as Wauseon High School principal effective August 1, 2026, through July 31, 2029.

Also listed were one-time Fulton County Family and Children First Council grant stipends for April Beck, Lisa Williams, and Blake Young.

Other personnel items included non-contract workers, certified transfers, classified transfers, a retirement, and a few resignations. The meeting also included an agreement with Advancing Fulton Physical Therapy LLC for student physical therapy services from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2028.

The board also had a number of NEOLA policy updates before it, including revisions involving several listed items. Also discussed was a shared service agreement between Wauseon Exempted Village Schools and Archbold Area School District to share treasurer services.

With no other items to attend to, the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be held on Friday, April 10 at 1:00 p.m. in the Wauseon Primary School.
