LIMA: January 20, 2014 – The Wauseon Indians traveled to Lima to take part in the 2014 Pioneer Classic Bowling Tournament. The team unleashed their pin splintering power from the outset, but a power shortage in the first round of championship play cost them dearly as they finished eighth. For the Tribe, this was another first, as this was their first time finishing in the top eight of the 21 teams present.
Wauseon exploded to an lead in the qualifiers, rolling a combined 1056 behind Peyton Shadbolt’s team high 265. Nic Kearney rolled a 235 in the second game as part of his high series total of 630. After three regular and five Baker games, the Tribe was in the catbird seat going into the championship round with 3841 pins and the #1 seeding.
Facing the #8 seed Elgin in the opening round of the championship bracket though, the Indians fell out of contention by dropping three Baker games in a row to the Comets, ending their tournament run.
