April 21-23 was the weekend that saw 19 members of the Wauseon High School Chorale make a trek to the Big Apple for their Spring Trip.
During their time in NYC, the students were able to visit some famous landmarks including Central Park, Rockefeller Plaza, Times Square, and the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. After taking a backstage tour of the famous Radio City Music Hall, the students met a current member of the Rockettes, and were able to ask questions about her career as a member of the elite dance troupe. The students also had the opportunity to perform in St. John the Divine Cathedral, the largest cathedral in the world to date, and participated in a Broadway workshop, where they received vocal and dance instruction from a member of the Broadway hit musical Matilda. Before returning to NW Ohio, the students attended the show Matilda, getting to see their song in the context of the musical, and catching a glimpse inside the Schubert Theater, one of the oldest active theaters in NYC.
Consisting of students from grades 9-12, the Chorale is selected by audition, and has the opportunity to perform jazz, pop, and show tunes standards for the Wauseon community and surrounding areas. The Wauseon Vocal Music department is proud to have this group as one of our eight active ensembles.
