WAUSEON: January 22, 2014 – The Wauseon Indians advanced in the Team Wrestling Duals on January 22, blasting Fostoria 64 to 9. The Indians then advanced to take on Defiance, overwhelming the Bulldogs 53-22.
According to Head Coach Mike Ritter, “I thought we wrestled very well. I was proud of our guys because we put together 2 really good days of practice and it came together on Wednesday. Fostoria had a lot of holes in their line-up, but the matches we did wrestle, went very well for us. We wrestled Defiance early in the season and beat them by 2 points, so I was curious to see how things would go this time around. Our guys really stepped it up. We had a lot of guys who lost a match in the December dual meet, that turned the tables and got us a win this time around. We were much more aggressive this time around winning the last 5 out of 6 matches to seal the deal.”
With the victories, Wauseon advances to the Semi-Finals of the OHSAA Team Dual Wrestling Tournament which will take place on January 29 at Toledo Central Catholic, where they will face Central.
