Wauseon Loses To Patrick Henry

May 4, 2015Updated:December 31, 2020No Comments2 Mins Read

(April 27th, 2015) – WAUSEON: The Lady Indian offense never really got off the ground against the Patrick Henry defense. While Wauseon’s defense was able to hold the Lady Patriots mostly in check, their lack of consistent production with their bats made all the difference in this contest.

Wauseon took the loss to Patrick Henry, 7-2.

The Patriots were first to get on the board, scoring 4 runs in the top half of the third inning. That would conclude the run production of either team until the sixth, where Patrick Henry earned another run. A 2 run effort by the Patriot girls in the top of the seventh was matched by Wauseon. That scoring proved to be too little too late, however, as the Indian girls fell to Patrick Henry thanks to a 5 run deficit.

Ashley Smith claimed responsibility for both of Wauseon’s runs stepping across home plate. Going 1 for 3 on the evening, her 1 hit was a 2 run home run. This garnered her with a pair of RBIs. Also earning 1 hit in her 3 plate appearances was Lady Indian Brianna Coblentz. Knocking in a single. Teammate Erin Douglass went 2 for 3 from the batter’s box, hitting for 2 singles.

Handling things from the mound for Wauseon was freshman Ally Tefft. Pitching a complete game, Tefft allowed 3 earned runs on 8 hits, She also struck out 2 Patriot batters in the loss.
