(May 20th-22nd, 2015) – DEFIANCE: Sending many athletes to the District track meet in Defiance, Wauseon saw a good number of them qualify for Regionals.

Among them was Seneca Wyse, who will be competing in four events at the Regional level. A junior, Wyse finished in second place in the long jump, the 100 meter dash, and the 400 meter dash. Her jump of 16’10.5” netted her the distinction in the long jump, while her times of 12.75 in the 100 meter event and 59.3 in the 400 meter race gave her the placing in the respective races. She also had a third place showing in the 200 meter dash, running a 26.83.

The distance events were also kind to Wauseon. The 4X800 meter relay team of Aleea Volkman, Aneesa Volkman, Avery Giguere, and Taylor Vernot won their event with a 9:50.07 showing. Vernot will also be running at Regionals in both the one and two mile runs, as she finished second in both District races with times of 5:12.25 and 11:15.11 respectively. Giguere also qualified with a third place effort in the one mile run, crossing the finish line at 5:30.47. Aleea Volkman did the same in the two mile, taking third with a run of 11:46.75.

Two Lady Indians will be throwing discus at the Regional meet as well. Sally Frank came in third place at Districts, tossing the disc 116’07”. Her teammate, Miriam Triana, was close behind, earning fourth place with her throw of 115’10”
