(October 18th, 2014)-WAUSEON: With twenty-six aces made by the team, the Lady Indians were able to overcome a game 1 loss to take the next three sets.

After enjoying a first round bye, earned by a strong season by the Wauseon girls, they hosted Wapakaneta in the Sectionals Finals on Saturday. The match-up was a good one, as both teams played pretty evenly throughout the night. The Lady Indians showed a propensity for closing out matches that the visiting team did not, however, which made all the difference.

Having said that, Wapakaneta did take a tight game 1 25-23, taking the initial lead in the series. That wouldn’t last, though. Wauseon came back in game 2, pulling away late to win the set 25-20. Game 3 was more of the same, as the Indians again claimed a 25-20 victory. Game 4 saw the Lady Indians again closed out a determined Wapakaneta team, earning a 25-19 win.

Thanks to her 17 digs, 7 kills, and 7 aces, Wauseon’s Kierra Fountain was a major factor in the match. Hayley Chamberlain added 17 assists and 2 blocks for the Lady Indians.Sariah Yackee contributed 21 digs and 3 aces in the victory as well.

The win advances the girls of Wauseon into districts.
