(January 30th 2015) – DELTA: Wauseon’s JV boys basketball team took control early in their road game against Delta. During the pursuit, the Indians demonstrated outstanding shooting from the free-throw line while pulling down defensive rebounds, resulting in a 38-23 victory.

Wauseon’s forceful offensive strategy produced 16 points for the team by the end of the first quarter. Though only adding 4 more points in the second, strong defense kept the Panthers at bay, scoring only 2 points. After the break, the Indians retained their commanding position, eventually totalling 38 points.

Teammates Austin Rotroff and Chase Brock led the team in scoring with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Derek Anderson and Rotroff each claimed 4 defensive rebounds each, while Brendan Britsch contributed 6 assists alone. The Indians also totalled 6 blocks throughout the night to add to their defensive tirade, while Delta couldn’t muster a single one. Wauseon shot an astounding 92% from the free-throw line, missing only one shot.

The Indians’ victory set the tone for the evening, amplifying the anticipation for the Varsity game.
