WAUSEON – Wauseon senior Sophia Rupp recently committed to continue her education and basketball career at Bemidji State University (NCAA D-II) in Bemidji, Minnesota.
“I chose Bemidji State for many reasons. One being the coaching staff, they were supportive, genuine and I could see they truly believed in me”, commented Rupp.
“I also really loved the team culture and how connected the team was. The playing style also really stood out to me.
“On top of that, the campus is beautiful and I could see myself there over any other school. I am looking forward to meeting new people and continuing to play basketball for four more years.”
For Rupp, the recruiting process started slow. “I didn’t get a lot of attention until the summer going into my senior year.
“At the start of my senior year I was talking to lots of schools, but once I visited Bemidji State, I knew it was the perfect fit for me,” explained Rupp, who will be studying Business Administration while at Bemidji State.
During her high school career so far, Rupp has been named 2nd Team NWOAL, 1st Team All-District, All-Ohio Honorable Mention, along with being part of two sectional championships, a district title, and the Northwest Signal Holiday Classic champions twice.
