BOYS VARSITY BASKETBALL

Montpelier 49, Fairview 45 –  The Locomotives trailed heading into the fourth quarter. Infact, they trailed the entire game and after three quarters the Apaches had a 33-29 advantage. Over the last eight minutes Montpelier poured in 20 points including 13 from Kolden Uribes as they completed their comeback for the tournament win.  Uribes led the team with 15 points and Dalton Surbey connected for 13 points in the win. Montpelier’s next opponent will be Van Buren Friday night back at Wauseon.

Archbold 58, Liberty Center 50 – Liberty Center dug themselves a deep hole early and were unable to crawl out of it in this Sectional battle between the two NWOAL schools. The Streaks were paced By Bryce Williams’ 17 points and Kaiden Bedsole’s 12 points. The Blue Streaks were up to face Elmwood Friday night in the sectional title game at Wauseon.

Patrick Henry 53, Delta 50 – The Panthers fell victim of the “three-ball” as the Patrick Henry connected for nine tres on way to their sectional win.  Delta went to the locker room at the half with a 27-22 lead, but Patrick Henry outscored them 31-23 in the second half. Noah Parsons led Delta with 18 points while Evan Vasquez and and Marc Callahan added 15 and 10 points respectively in Delta’s season ending loss.

Otsego 37, Evergreen 36 – (Game stats unavailable)

Holgate 63, Hilltop 61 (2 OT) – The Cadets lost a heartbreaker to be eliminated from the Division IV Sectional Tournament. After falling behind 29-12 at the half, Hilltop played their best third quarter of the season outscoring Holgate 24-3 over the eight-minute stretch to grab a 36-32 advantage. The Tigers clawed back and squeaked out the victory. Quinn Smith and Tim Maneval led Hilltop with 21 and 20 points respectively including three 3-points for Smith and four 3-pointers for Maneval.
