The Williams County Mayors’ Association met on May 20, 2026, to discuss communications updates, housing development efforts and organizational business involving communities across the county.
Mayors present included Carrie Schlade (Bryan), Steve Yagelski (Montpelier), Robert Day (Edgerton), Duane Thiel (Edon), Pamela Clark (Holiday City), Joe Beck (Stryker), Don Leu (West Unity) and Eric Jenkins (Blakeslee).
Meeting minutes were approved as well as the financial update.
Under old business, officials received an update regarding the MARCS radio system. A transmitter had recently been replaced and converted to a bi-directional system, which officials said appeared to improve performance.
However, work continues on the pager system, and installing a longer antenna has not yet made a significant difference.
The Association also approved updates to its bylaws. Members later discussed ongoing housing efforts taking place throughout the county. Officials shared that the Williams County Port Authority continues searching for property suitable for reasonably priced housing development, with projects currently being explored in Bryan, Stryker and West Unity.
Clark from Holiday City also discussed potential expansion opportunities within the village, though available property remains limited.
With no further business, the meeting adjourned.
