Winter Sports Roundup For December 6th, 2021

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Varsity

Bryan 63 Edgerton 11

BRYAN – Bryan nailed nine triples as a team led by Ella Rau with four in a 63-11 nonconference win. Rau led the Lady Bears (5-1) in scoring with 14 points, Addie Arnold added 13, and Kaylee Thiel had 10. Noelle Ritter, Taylor Smith, Addie Cape, Holly Stark, and Grace Schroeder each had two points for Edgerton (1-5).

Stryker 41 Fayette 16

FAYETTE – Sage Woolace had 17 points to lead all scorers as Stryker (5-0) knocked down eight three-pointers as a team in their 41-16 win. Gracee Bingman and Jada Reinking paced the Eagles (0-4) with six points each.

Wauseon 68 Fairview 53

SHERWOOD – Wauseon used a 25-12 second quarter to take a 42-32 lead at intermission as they improved to 3-0 on the year. Marisa Selier tallied 24 points for the Indians followed by Autumn Pelok with 18.

Archbold 42 Ayersville 30

DEFIANCE – Archbold forced 22 Ayersville turnovers and went 14/17 at the free throw line to get the win in the semifinals of the Defiance Physical Therapy Classic. Addie Ziegler made three shots from long range on her way to 16 points.

Delta 37 Pettisville 34

PETTISVILLE – The Panthers rallied from a 20-9 halftime deficit by outscoring Pettisville (2-2) 28-14 in the second half to pull out a 37-34 win. Delta (2-4) overcame shooting only 12/61 (19%) from the floor with the help of 23 Blackbird turnovers and a 3/14 (21%) night at the line by Pettisville.

Grace Munger led a balanced effort by Delta with nine points and Sophia Burress added eight. Ellie Grieser had a game-high 14 points to pace Pettisville.

Hicksville 45 Hilltop 33

HICKSVILLE- The Aces (2-2) took a 17-6 lead after one quarter and held off the Cadets (2-4) the rest of the way to earn a 45-33 win. Hilltop, who was outscored 12-4 at the free throw line, was fronted in scoring by Mia Hancock with 10.

GIRLS BOWLING

Evergreen 1,845 Bryan 1,639

ADRIAN – Keigan Shuster tallied a 332 (163, 139) and Delaney Burghardt scored a 302 (163, 139) to lead Evergreen past Bryan 1,845-1,639. Faith Harding fronted the Bryan attack with a 367 (197, 170) and Ashley Grymonprez had games of 121 and 181 for a 302 series.

Liberty Center 2,041 Delta 1,672

NAPOLEON – Hannah Roth’s 353 (180, 173) helped Liberty Center move to 2-0 after a 2,041-1,672 win over Delta. Maddy Johnston had the high game for the Lady Panthers with a 173 in game two as she finished with a 304 series in the match.

BOYS BOWLING

Bryan 2,273 Evergreen 1,887

ADRIAN – Dakota Brandeberry fired a 376 (174, 202) to lead a balanced Bryan effort in a win over Evergreen. Issac Stoy rolled a 360 (187, 173) and Matt Meade added a 356 (175, 181) for Bryan. Michael Laver put together scores of 168 and 129 for a 297 and Zachary Laver had a 294 (134, 160) for the Vikings.

Swanton 2,129 Wauseon 1,994

SWANTON – Seth Sweet rolled a 404 series, including a team-high 213 in game two as Swanton knocked off Wauseon 2,129-1,994. Marty Mosher was next for Swanton with a 371 (168, 203) and Scott Reside added a 304 (139, 165). Ryan Marks topped Wauseon with games of 169 and 190 for a 359 and Parker Black post a 357 (180, 177).

Liberty Center 2,476 Delta 2,104

NAPOLEON – Liberty Center’s Landon Amstutz led all bowlers with a 434 (208, 226) as the Tigers pulled away for the win after taking the Baker Games 608-419. Kaden Hawkins rolled a 377 (231, 146) to lead Delta and Gabe Syverson had a 359 (149, 210).
