Amanda L. Potts, 36, of Gallup, NM, and formerly of West Unity, OH, died unexpectedly July 31, 2013, at her home. She was born November 19, 1976 in Morenci, MI to Terry and Paulette (Zuver) Potts. Her mother recently preceded her in death on October 24, 2012.
Amanda was a 1995 graduate of Hilltop High School, and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Defiance College in 1999. She has been a resident of Gallup, NM for the past 10 years, where she served as a special needs instructor for McKinley County School. She had a sincere passion for education and special needs and enjoyed the relationships with her students. Amanda was an avid reader and also enjoyed writing.
Surviving Amanda are her father, Terry Potts of West Unity; two sisters, Susan (Todd) Elliott of West Unity, and Jessica Potts (and Jeff Beck) of Archbold; paternal grandmother, Inez Potts of Fayette; maternal aunts, Rosie Campbell and Carol (Cole) Richards all of Bullhead City, AZ; paternal uncles Brent Potts of Bryan, OH, and Greg (Monica) Potts of West LaFayette, IN; and her nieces and nephew, Emily, Hayden, Samantha, and Alexandria.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Paul and Frances Zuver; paternal grandfather, Eldon Potts; and uncles Michael Potts, CJ Potts, and Bud Campbell.
A celebration of life service for Amanda will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013, at 12:00 Noon at the Fayette Christian Church-Disciples with Pastor Gene Sugg officiating. Private family interment will precede in the Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorial donations in honor of Amanda to the West Unity Library or to Autism Speaks.
