2016 Fulton County Jr. Fair Skillathon & Exhibitor Winners Announced

The Swine, Beef, and Sheep Skillathons held at the Fulton County Fairgrounds on August 31st were an opportunity for Jr. Fair youth to display their knowledge of their 4-H or FFA animal projects. The youth who entered the skillathons answered questions on feeding, care, medication, parts of the animal, meat cuts and breed identification.

The Outstanding Market Exhibitor Award is given to one exhibitor from each of the three species of swine, beef and sheep. That award, given at the Fulton County Fair is based on the exhibitor’s skillathon score, showmanship placing and market class placing.

The Sheep Skillathon winners for 2016 in the Senior Division, ages 14-18 were: 1st place – April Beaverson, daughter of Jeri and Paul of Fayette; 2nd place – Garrett Krasula, son of Carrie and Shawn of Wauseon; and 3rd place – Graeme Jacoby, son of John and Callie of Wauseon. The Junior Division winners, ages 8-13 were: 1st place – Kassidy Zientek, daughter of Josh and Amy of Wauseon; 2nd place – Karter Zachrich, son of Larry and Alice of Wauseon; and 3rd place – Hannah Kovar, daughter of Terry and Jean of Fayette.

Beck Family Show Lambs of Wauseon again sponsored the cash awards for the Sheep Skillathon. Rosettes were sponsored by the Randy Burkholder Family of Fayette.

The Outstanding Market Exhibitor for Sheep for 2016 was Garrett Krasula, son of Carrie and Shawn of Wauseon. Sponsor of this award was: PNC Bank of Wauseon.


Also, the Craig Goldsmith Family of Wauseon sponsored a fold-up bag chair and a trophy in memory of Hollis Richer.

Winners of the 2016 Beef Skillathon for the Senior Division, ages 14-18 were: 1st place – Lynnsey Crouch, daughter of Jeremy and Kimberly of Wauseon, 2nd place – Adam Kinsman, son of Rod and Joyce of Archbold; and 3rd place – Nate Herr, son of Tommy and Jenny of Metamora. The Junior Division winners, ages 8-13 were: 1st place –Hannah Kovar, daughter of Terry and Jean of Fayette; Kendall Wyse, daughter of Neil and Jamie of Wauseon; and 3rd place – Kelly Miller, daughter of Eric and Marla of Archbold.

Alternative Management Resources, Inc., of Swanton again sponsored the cash awards for the Beef Skillathon and rosettes were sponsored by Phil and Donielle Herring Family of Wauseon.


The winner of the 2016 Outstanding Market Exhibitor for Beef award was Lynnsey Crouch, daughter of Jeremy and Kimberely of Wauseon. This award was sponsored by Alternative Management Resources, Inc. of Swanton and Pettisville Grain Company. The Phil and Donielle Herring Family sponsored a fold-up bag chair for the participant.

The Swine Skillathon, is divided into three age groups and the 2016 winners of the Senior Division, ages 15-18 were: 1st place – Mason Creager, son of Todd and Patti of Wauseon; 2nd place – Mac Warncke, son of Todd and Amy of Wauseon; and 3rd place – Taylor Smith, daughter of Steven and Nancy of Lyons. Winners in the Intermediate Division, ages 12-14 were: 1st place – Eli Warncke, son of Todd and Amy of Wauseon; 2nd place – Hayley Orzechowski, daughter of Bill and Cindy of Wauseon; 3rd place – Ashton Dominique, son of Trent and Angelique of West Unity. Junior Division winners, ages 8-11 were: 1st place – Maddie Thiel, daughter of Rich and Andrea of Archbold; 2nd place – Shane Suchora, son of George and Lynn Kati of Ottawa Lake, MI; and 3rd place – Hannah Kovar, daughter of Terry and Jean of Fayette.

Sponsors of the Swine Skillathon who provided cash awards to the winners were: Just Mulch of Archbold; J & B Feeds of Wauseon; and Friends of Everett & Virginia Ricker who were past sponsors of the Swine Skillathon. Rosettes were given by the Fulton County Pork Producers.

The Outstanding Market Exhibitor for Swine for 2016 was Mason Creager, son of Todd and Patti of Wauseon. Sponsors of this award were: Moorman ShowTec Feeds of Archbold, Fayette Feed Mill of Fayette and Gerald Grain Company. The Fulton County Pork Producers sponsored a fold-up bag chair for the winner.
